the revolutionary curving saber legs and comfortable arched, S-shaped back are visible in chairs throughout the centuries.



Its silhouette was harmonious with the shape and proportion of the human body- key elements of the ancient Greeks’ fundamental understanding of beauty. It featured curved, tapered legs which continued up toward the wide concave backrest. Cording or leather strips were woven and attached to a frame which held a cushion or a pelt. It was an intelligent design- a stable chair which provided comfortable shoulder and back support.
